Building Confidence and Guiding Direction & Brand Growth for an Independent Hairstylist

Nicole, owner of Nicole Macc Hair, had already built a strong business with a steady clientele as an independent hairstylist. But when it came to marketing herself, she felt lost and needed clear direction and support.

Her first curly hair class became an important moment for her brand—shifting her from hairstylist to educator, positioning her as an expert in her industry, and opening the door for more classes and new clients.

The Strategy

Nicole struggled with feeling confident enough to show up and share her work, but when she hosted her first curly hair class she lit up.

She felt confident teaching in person, and we used that experience to help her feel more comfortable showing up online by sharing her knowledge, her personality, and her work in a way that felt more natural to her.

The Goal

  • build confidence in showing up on social media

  • capture and share the real client experience she provides

  • position her as an educator within her niche

  • create a simpler approach to her marketing

  • support her growth through events, communication, and overall brand direction

I had the pleasure of working with Elisa for the last 6 months helping me with content and marketing for my small business as a hairstylist. She was so helpful and really helped me get out of my shell as I’m not comfortable behind the camera! She has great ideas and definitely made my life much easier on my end. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for help and more confidence in their marketing and social media.

The Approach

Building Confidence & Guiding Direction

We focused on helping Nicole feel more comfortable showing up in her business by simplifying how she approached her marketing.

  • identified what she naturally enjoys sharing

  • built around real moments from her day-to-day work

  • created a marketing plan that felt manageable and not overwhelming

Instead of overthinking what to post, she had a clearer sense of what to focus on each week and how to incorporate it into her schedule.

Event Marketing - Curly Hair Class

Her curly hair class became the confidence boost Nicole needed to get going.

  • we documented the experience

  • used it to guide how she shares her work and expertise in curly hair styling

  • positioned her as an educator within her niche

Her clients LOVED the experience. They couldn’t wait for Nicole to announce the next class.

Systems & Support

To support consistency, we introduced simple organization behind the scenes:

  • mapped out a weekly content plan based on her schedule behind the chair

  • organized her ideas into clear focus areas she could easily pull from

  • supported communication through SMS and email for promoting classes and staying connected with clients

  • outlined how each piece connects to her overall marketing strategy (content, promotions, client communication etc.)

We didn’t complicate things too much, just kept her marketing organized and intentional.

The Outcome

Nicole now has a clearer, more confident approach to how she shows up in her business.

  • her online audience grew by 40.5%

  • we identified who her audience is and what they respond to most

  • established that video content was the most natural and effective format for her

  • each video reached beyond her current audience, averaging 1.4 views per follower

  • removed the guesswork by identifying what to continue focusing on

Most importantly, she now has the confidence and direction to share her work consistently without overthinking it.
